Cultural theorist and poet Fred Moten will be a featured guest of The Dillon Johnston Writers Reading Series  and the Wake Forest University Interdisciplinary Arts Center this fall for two special events: a Poets’ Theatre presentation on Wednesday, September 13, and a night of Poetry Readings & Performances on Thursday, September 14. Both events free and open to the campus community and the public, and made possible through the support of the Interdisciplinary Arts Center at Wake Forest.

Poets’ Theatre Performance of variations in the dream of X
Wednesday, Sept. 13
5 pm in Brendle Recital Hall

Alongside the transmedia artist Lynn Book, the poet and playwright Ken Taylor, and the actor and drag king Vic Leon, Fred will perform in a staged reading of variations in the dream of X. Written and directed by Ken, this meta-theatrical piece explores the lyric I, gender and identity politics, and dreams through poetry and performance. variations in the dream of X has been performed around the country and is forthcoming in print by John Yau’s Black Square Editions.

The following night, Thursday, September 14, The Dillon Johnston Writers Reading Series will host an evening of readings and performances with Fred Moten, Lynn Book, Ken Taylor, and Vic Leon, who will present original work at 5 pm in Hanes Art Gallery, Scales Fine Art Center. A reception and book signing will follow.
