Fiction Collective Two presents writers Sarah Blackman and Marream Krollos in new FC2 Reading Series on April 16, 2020

Founded in 1974, FC2 (FC2.org) is an independent press dedicated to publishing artistically adventurous fiction. In 2017, the editorial operations of FC2 moved to Wake Forest, where student fellows and interns have the opportunity to participate in the publishing process. This spring, the Creative Writing Program is inaugurating the FC2 Reading Series, which brings FC2 authors to campus to read from their stories and novels, discuss contemporary publishing with aspiring writers, and familiarize the community with FC2 and Wake Forest’s role in the press’s present and future.

On Thursday, April 16th, recent FC2 authors Sarah Blackman and Marream Krollos will visit campus for an informal discussion and a literary reading.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join Blackman and Krollos in Ammons Lounge, Tribble A107, between 2 pm and 3 pm for a Q&A and a discussion of FC2 and the larger landscape of small press publishing. Snacks will be provided.

Blackman and Krollos will also give a free and public reading of their work at 6 pm in the ZSR Auditorium (ZSR 404). A book signing and reception will follow.

About the authors: 

Sarah Blackman is the Director of Creative Writing at the Fine Arts Center, a public arts high school in Greenville, South Carolina. She is the co-fiction editor of DIAGRAM and the founding editor of Crashtest, an online magazine for high school age artists and writers. Her stories and poems have recently appeared in Western Humanities Review, West Branch, Cincinnati Review and Crazyhorse, among other magazines. She is the author of two books, Mother Box and Other Tales and Hex, both published by FC2.

Marream Krollos was born and raised in Egypt.  She has since lived in many parts of the world, including Denver, where she earned her PhD; Jeddah, where she taught a college creative writing class for women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Lezha, Albania, where she taught literature. She is at work on a new novel, and has finished assembling an anthology of writing by her Saudi students. Her collection, Big City, was published by FC2 in 2018. Her novella Stan and poetry volume Sermons are out in 2019. She currently lives in Detroit.
