Professor Mary DeShazer receives the 2018 Jon Reinhardt Award for Distinguished Teaching

Professor emeritus Mary DeShazerMary DeShazer, retired professor of English Literature and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, received the Jon Reinhardt Award for Distinguished Teaching at Founders’ Day Convocation on Feb. 15, 2018. This award “recognizes an experienced member of the faculty, distinguished as a teacher in the broadest sense of the word, not only for performance in the classroom but also for exemplifying the ideals of a liberal arts education.”

The award was created in 1986 as a memorial to Dr. Jon Reinhardt and “the countless hours of personal contact that he had with students, his ability to remain a student in spirit and in fact, and his unique and captivating teaching style.”
