Professor Judith Madera

On April 29, Associate Professor Judith Madera will be the invited keynote speaker for the English Department and the Study of World Literature at Appalachian State University in honor of Senior Capstone Day. Her talk is titled “Why Place Stories Matter: Worldmaking and Home.”

The presentation will speak to the relationship between place-based narratives and worldmaking. Worldmaking is about rearranging the known world through interpretation. It also means imagining new ways of being in the world. Students are encouraged to explore ways they can write their own ecologies of home.
