The Department of English and the Creative Writing Program are delighted to announce that the editorial operations of Fiction Collective Two (FC2) have moved to Wake Forest University. FC2 is an independent press dedicated to publishing artistically adventurous fiction. Over the past forty years, FC2 has published more than two hundred books and become known as the nation’s longest running literary experiment. Writers who have published with FC2 include Raymond Federman, Samuel Delany, Diane Williams, Lidia Yuknavitch, Amelia Gray, Affinity Konar, Vi Khi Nao, Stephen Graham Jones, Kate Bernheimer, and many more.

Creative Writing Professor Joanna Ruocco began her tenure as Chair of the FC2 Board of Directors in July 2018. Wake students interested in literary publishing now have the opportunity to study with Professor Ruocco and learn firsthand how a fiction press operates. An FC2 fellowship is available to one student in the English MA program annually. The FC2 Fellow helps manage FC2’s national contests and organize FC2’s author signings and readings at the AWP conference, in addition to taking on other responsibilities. With FC2 based at Wake Forest, the Creative Writing Program can proudly offer students an even broader range of learning experiences.
