Ricky Barash, Sarah Lewiecki, and Suzanne Mullins awarded D.A. Brown Award for Excellence in Writing for 2017-2018
Ricky Barash was awarded the D.A. Brown Award for excellence in Writing in the Division II Core Literature Category for his paper entitled “Mental Anchors: An Analysis of Cognition and Catastrophe in Moby-Dick.”
Sarah Lewiecki was awarded the D.A. Brown Award for excellence in Writing in the Division II Core Literature Category for her paper entitled “Indianness in American Art: Faulkner’s Parody, Seton’s Ignorance & Lubin’s Reasoning.”
Suzanne Mullins was awarded the D.A. Brown Award for Excellence in Writing in the Upper Division Literature Category for her paper entitled “Environmental Disaster and Social Survival: The Marginalized in Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower.”
The late D.A. Brown was a member of the English Department for many years. He was noted for his high standards, and on his retirement, a fund was established to recognize excellence in writing.
